During the past year we have seen several overseas outsourced call centers open and close. We are finding that more of our industry competitors are farming their calls to overseas call centers that use cheap labor without telling their clients. This is unfortunate for all of us because these call centers are not required to maintain the same high standards as medical answering services in the United States which results in very little protection for the clients and their patients. MedConnectUSA continues to invest in security and training to comply with all HIPAA rules.
There is also a trend in the medical answering service industry to contract with “at home” workers. This means that your confidential patient information could be subject to being seen or heard by parties outside of the answering service. Many companies will try to tell you how secure their “at home” workers are but when you dig a little deeper many times the managers have never visited or seen the contract workers home. When you use an answering service that uses at home workers you could be subjecting your callers to barking dogs, screaming children, and other background noise which takes the focus off your caller and makes your office look unprofessional.
